A day like any  other

Granny Yanz didn’t start in a boardroom. It started with family.

At the time, I had just finished my first children’s book, built around breakfast and the idea that it isn’t limited to mornings.

“Unbeknownst to me, my mother had spent that same night praying for ideas on building generational wealth, and the next morning, she approached me and my brothers with a simple idea: breakfast syrup. The moment she said it, it didn’t feel like a coincidence. She had no idea that I even started writing books, so the timing felt strange, especially with my cousins in town too; all eager to back her idea.

Not long after, she began developing her recipe from scratch. Months passed, as she crafted it and adjusted, tweaked it, but never rushed it, until we knew we had something worth sharing.

While that was happening, I created the name and logo for the brand she would sell under. A name rooted in family, and that would rise above the other brands. Granny Yanz it became, and a rocking chair with a pillow seated in it, emerged as the logo. Simple, but it said everything without saying too much.

Once the syrup was right, the brand expanded into pancake mix with grander visions in sight. Build a full breakfast system, instead of a single product.

Eventually my mother handed me the rights to take control, and that's  when things shifted from a shared vision, into something with an identity.

From that point, I shaped the structure, mission, and branding, then charted the path for the ship to sail. my mother connected with my aunt, and we started pushing it through flea markets on Saturdays and Sundays. Whoever was available showed up,  and sold the product. It wasn’t instant success. It was consistency. Same setup. Same product. Same shared goal.

And people started catching on.

Not just because of the syrup or pancake mix, but because the brand means more than just product on  a shelf.
Today we continue to grow and thrive across multiple channels.

Same foundation we started with:

Family. Consistency. And something real enough to stand on its own.
